Carl Sandburg Home NHS
Many Bonclarken guests enjoy an afternoon at the Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site, located about a mile from our grounds. Explore the historic home and grounds of Carl Sandburg, the twentieth-century American poet known as the "Poet of the People." The National Historic Site offers tours of Sandburg's home, 5 miles of hiking trails ranging from easy to strenuous, and a chance to visit the descendants of Mrs. Sandburg's Connemara Farms dairy goats.

Less than a mile from Bonclarken you will find the Flat Rock Playhouse, the State Theatre of North Carolina, a professional, nonprofit theatre renowned for presenting popular musicals, dramatic works, concerts, and children's productions.
